Returned to the wild – how hand held O2 meters help Florida wildlife sanctuary

The range of hand held medical O2 meters from Analytical Industries Inc. (AII) are not just used in hospitals. They also have a role to play in veterinary care where the control of oxygen levels is a vital part of respiratory therapy for animals.

A case study published on the Analytical Industries Inc website describes how the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife in Florida uses medical gas analyzers from AII to monitor and control oxygen levels in the chambers used for respiratory therapy. The clinic uses the AII-2000 A hand held oxygen analyzer for checking the level of oxygen in the chamber is kept constant, as well as for detecting possible leaks. The small size of the AII-2000 means that it is it easy to place directly in the chamber with the animals, and it’s long sensor and battery life allow the vets to focus on the primary task of caring for the animals, not the instrumentation.

The photo shows the treatment of a Red Shouldered Hawk that was delivered to the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife in Florida with possible rodenticide poisoning. Fortunately, after being treated the bird was ready to be released few days later.
