Our humidity
generators and calibration systems all use the same basic components and
humidity generation principles. Clean oil-free compressed air or inert gas is
fed into a pressure swing dryer, where virtually all the moisture from the gas
is removed. The dryer uses high efficiency desiccant material and the
two-column principle ensures a continuous supply of ultra dry gas to the
generator.
Dry gas or air is fed into the humidity generator. All
Michell generators work on the same basic divided flow principle. The feed gas
is split into two flow paths, one of which is saturated by bubbling through
water under precisely controlled conditions. The resulting saturated gas is
then re-mixed volumetrically with the dry flow to produce an output at the
required humidity level. Manual and automatic versions are available with
either flowmeter, push-button, or full computer control.
The humidified
gas or air is then passed over the sensor(s) under test. Depending upon the
type of sensor to be tested, this calibration gas may be supplied either
through a sensor sample housing or into an environmentally controlled chamber.
Temperature control is particularly important for relative humidity sensor
calibration, but is also necessary when dew point sensors are calibrated.
Our systems can be configured to exactly suit your needs. The final
element in a humidity calibration system is the traceable reference dew point
meter. All our systems are specified with an appropriate cooled mirror dew
point meter that may be used to verify the generated humidity and temperature
conditions. These instruments are supplied with traceability to NIST and NPL
Standards.
