Maintaining production at Michell during the pandemic

As the world is facing unprecedented measures during the pandemic, we are taking steps to safeguard our employees and continue to support our customers who are relying on our sensors and process instrumentation to keep critical medical, pharmaceutical and infrastructure processes running. As a manufacturer, protecting the health of our frontline staff working in production and service is a priority. All staff who are able to do so are now working remotely and all external visits to our manufacturing sites and sales offices have been cancelled. This includes all scheduled Factory Acceptance Tests and we in close contact with all affected customers where this the case. Like other responsible manufacturers, we plan to sustain our business in the coming weeks and months. Leveraging our Brexit planning, we have implemented a number of measures to mitigate supply chain disruption. These include placing blanket orders for commonly used parts, holding higher than normal levels of stock, multiple sourcing of key parts and maintaining close working relationships with critical suppliers. This is an ongoing process to maintain continuity of supply of Michell products.

To maintain our manufacturing output as much as possible, we have temporarily increased hours in our Analyser Systems build area and increased the buffer stock in our sensor build area to mitigate the effects on our business operations. We are also working to cross-train staff from other departments within the facility to provide further flexibility should it be needed. All these actions are being reviewed regularly as we receive more information. This is a rapidly evolving situation and we will be keeping all customer updated with any further changes or new information. If you have any questions or concerns about an order or scheduled delivery, please contact your local Michell Instruments office or representative.
